reader spotlight: Meet Jennifer Fragale

Life’s mission: To live an authentic life by making
decisions with the greater good in mind, not compromising
my values and leading by example.
Work: I create websites for individuals and small
businesses, working across various industries to
strategize and build digital experiences.

Proudest achievements: For years it was my “lifelong
goal” to be quoted in the New York Times. Then, in the summer of 2014, I was
quoted in a Sunday edition article, “In New York City, Bucket Lists Run in Reverse.”
How fitting that my NYC bucket list item was achieved in an article about the complete
opposite—the perils of living in New York!

Expectations for the future: I try to remain optimistic about the future, but my resolve
is really being tested these days. I find solace in knowing that many like-minded
individuals are doing everything they can to contribute to a healthier and happier
planet, and together we will make a lasting positive impact. Favorite app: Shazam

How do you invest in your community? When I lived in Chelsea, I tended a garden
in the middle of a bike lane, belonged to the local block association and taught
computers to senior citizens at the Chelsea Rec Center. In Brooklyn, I shop locally as
much as possible and support local arts with my BAM membership. I’m looking to
get further involved in my new Fort Greene neighborhood.

What are you doing to be the change you want to see in the world? I try to lead by example every day. Each of us has the power to change the world every time we recycle, every time we donate something reusable instead of throwing it away, every time we exercise our right to  vote, and on the list goes. Small changes add up, and together we can—and will—change the world.
