‘Miracles in Manhattan’ Lecture Holds Message of Awakening

Jon Mundy, Ph.D., publisher of Miracles Magazine, calls A Course in Miracles “the wisest, sanest, deepest book I know.” The book inspired his monthly lecture series, Miracles in Manhattan, which typically takes place every second Sunday at the Center for Remembering and Sharing. His next lecture has been moved to the first Sunday, May 5, at 1:30 p.m.

A Course in Miracles is uniquely relevant to spring, Mundy says. “It’s about awakening to a remembrance of the truth inside everyone. Springtime, too, is all about awakening. Spiritually speaking, to awaken means to recognize, or to bring back into the mind what the mind already knows. After Buddha’s great awakening, those around him asked him to explain what had happened, and he said, ‘I am awake.’ If we were fully awake, there would be no anger, no hatred, no reason to attack anyone, ever.”

According to the Course, Mundy says, we are all “dreaming the world,” and so not yet fully awake. “At the same time, there is no one in whom the light has gone out completely, and an awakening is available to everyone. There was no teaching from the Buddha till after his awakening; likewise, there was no teaching from Jesus until after his awakening in the wilderness. Spirit awoke Mohammed while he was meditating in a cave. Spirit never stops speaking. God’s voice speaks to everyone all through the day. All are called. Are we listening?”
